ENZYMES INTRODUCTION: Enzymes are proteins produced by living cells. They act as biochemical catalysts meaning they lower the activation energy unavoidable for a biochemical reception to occur. A substratum, is the substance to be acted upon, it binds to the active place of an enzyme to induce the biochemical reaction and pile the desired product. Each active site of the enzyme is unique to the substratum it volition bind with. However, the activeness of an enzyme can be tracing by many factors such as pH and temperature and bet line of inhibitors be power these factors can alter the structure of the enzyme and denature it. When the temperature and pH are higher or lower than what is optimal for the enzyme to work, this when the enzymes performance will be affected; it can all be disabled or slowed down. However the inhibitor binds to the active site of an enzyme and tug it, which will prevent the substrate to bind to it, and therefrom the reaction will slo w down. In this lab we will running the effects of enzymatic activity by conducing 3 look intos, to con how changes in the temperature, pH, and presence of inhibitors will cause this effect. EXPERIMENT 1 Enzyme activity: the effect of temperature.

Materials: Potato natural selection Catechol 5 analyse vacuum provides Test provide holder Ice tub Warm bath Boiling bath Pen Ruler Procedure: 1.With pen and formula congeal 1cm and 2cm from bottom on each 5 test tubes. 2. switch tube 1 till 1cm mark with distilled water. 3.Fill test tubes 2, 3, 4, 5 with potato extract till 1 cm mark. 4.Place tube 2 in stewing water bath. 5.Place tube 3 in speedy water bath. 6 .Place tube 4 in sparkler bath. 7.Place tu! be 5 in test tube rack, on room temperature. 8.Leave the tubes for 5 minutes. 9.Add catechol in all 5 tubes up till the 2cm mark. 10.Observe the simulation change for the next 20 minutes. Observation and results: In this experiment we can identify: The substrate: catechol The enzyme: catechol oxidase The...If you want to get a full essay, order it on our website:
