Since Australia is a Democratic presidential term, the community is equal to elect the Government of which they believe allow represent the community most effectively. In doing so, Parliament is ensuring that the principle of Representative Government is being fulfilled. Although Government is elected by the people, Parliament members will still vote along caller lines, that is voting for statute that reflect the political ideology of the party itself. Hence the ideology of the partys may not necessarily be reflective of the communitys values or belief, then the idea of Representative Government is contradicted. However there take a shit been cases where by Parliament members have crossed the floor in support of a legislation that opposed their own party lines ideology hence shows its effectiveness in representing the communitys values.
Parliament has the power to make and also reform laws that are unworkable or unclear in legislation. By having the aids of Law Reform Bodies, the Parliament is able to obtain a better overview of the current laws in spite of appearance society that may require reform and laws that are outdated within the community. Parliament can then reform legislation to suit the community needs and protect the view, values and general upbeat of individuals, creating a cohesive society. However, if laws made by Parliament were at last successful, the requirement for courts that interpret law and the law reform bodies would not exist.
